Version 4.4.0 highlights

Updated 2026-04-23 00:00

Version 4.4.0 brings a broad round of bug fixes, richer solar eclipse reports, a new in-app help feature, and a range of Sky View and visual improvements.

The new version 4.4.0 includes a lots of bug fixes and two new features: more detailed solar eclipse reports with new nice graphics showing the shadow on earth during the different stages of the eclipse, and a new help feature which you can use to find a broad range of functions and settings in the app and directly navigate to them. Additionally, small improvements have been made to the red-night mode, moon and sun can now optionally be displayed oversized (default now in planisphere), flickering constellation art in skyview has been fixed, and the textures in skyview and solarsystem 3d screen have been optimized with compressed textures for faster rendering (hopefully improving performance on weaker devices). This public feedback screen is also new and should show that I receive your valuable feedback and use it to improve the app. Thank you for all your feedback!

Sun, Moon, and twilight time accuracy corrections

Updated 2026-04-23 00:00

Sun, Moon, moon-phase, and twilight calculations are being corrected in version 4.4.0, which is currently in review.

In the current version 4.3.x, there are a lot of problems with the computation of the twilight diagram and times, rise and set times, skyview showing night when it is day, etc. I think I have found the cause of the error, it was a missing initialization of the database that provides the basic solarsystem object coordinates (VSOP-parameters) when the app is backgrounded and then again launched. This should be fixed for version 4.4.0 that is currently in review on Google Play. The review normally takes 2 days. Please let me know if this issue has not been fixed on your device with version 4.4.0.
